Green Platypus Gardens

Project Info

sMy client had several challenges impacting this site –

  • drainage & storm water – the area was dry in summer, but in winter served as a drain for storm water from the road and footpath
  • dead space that was aesthetically poor – located at the entrance to the home, this area looked messy and uncared for
  • lack or privacy and need for screening
  • need for the space to be low maintenance

The solution was a French drain that would also serve as a dry creek bed in summer and a waterway in the winter. Planted with a mix of natives and Mediterranean ornamentals, this dead area was transformed into a beautiful low maintenance garden, welcoming visitors and giving the client a sense of arrival & peace. Large shrubs screen the house from the road & provide privacy and seclusion.
